Ferrari Challenge UK launches with a Ferrari-filled weekend at Brands Hatch

Race 1 - It was a historical moment for Ferrari as the first ever race of the Ferrari Challenge UK series took place. Jason Baker (Dick Lovett Swindon) was both the outright, and Trofeo Pirelli class winner. In the Coppa Shell category, Mark McAllister (Lancaster Ferrari Colchester) was victorious. Both drivers converted pole position into a win. In the Trofeo Pirelli, Jamie Clarke (Stratstone Manchester) and Wayne Marrs (Dick Lovett Swindon) finished second and third respectively, with the podium in the Coppa Shell class being completed by Toby Flanagan (Maranello Sales) in second and Alex Moss (Graypaul Birmingham) in third.

Race 2 - Jason Baker once again managed to defend from the attacking Clarke to claim his second win of the weekend, to make it a Double Double with two Pole Positions. Paul Hogarth claimed the third step on the podium. The racing in the Coppa Shell for gentleman drivers class remained just as thrilling from flag to flag. Pole-sitter Toby Flannagan (Maranello Sales), Gary Redman (Graypaul Nottingham) and Stuart Willson (Graypaul Nottingham) all held the lead at different stages of the race. Stuart Willson eventually emerged victorious as the chequered flag waved, with Flannagan second and Redman coming home in third.

The legendary circuit in Kent looked impressive immersed in famous Ferrari red, and provided visitors with lots to see and do both on and off the circuit. In addition to the exciting track action, models from the current Ferrari range were on public display, including the F8 Tributo which was making its public debut at the event.

Ferrari clients also had a number of sessions on the track in which they could experience the limits and performance of their own Ferrari, with a professional instructor alongside them. Potential clients also experienced the dynamic capabilities of the Ferrari model range on circuit, with FIA World Endurance Champion and Official Ferrari Competizioni GT driver, James Calado, conducting hot laps with sponsors and VIP guests in a Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Ferrari also hosted a service clinic where clients could bring their cars and receive expert advice from Ferrari Service Technicians from the Official Dealer Network on how to maintain their cars, as well as details of the range of Ferrari warranties available for older cars. Apprentices from the Ferrari Dealer Network also attended the event, promoting fantastic apprenticeship opportunities for budding Ferrari Technicians.

The Pirelli Ferrari formula classic series, which is operated by the Ferrari Owners’ Club GB, staged three races over the course of the weekend. The series features older Ferrari racing cars dating back to 1976, such as Ferrari 308s, F355 Challenge cars and 328 GTBs. The Pirelli Ferrari formula classic series will support every Ferrari Challenge UK weekend throughout the season.
