1000 Miglia Winter Race returns

Coppa delle Alpi St. Moritz Edition: from 12 to 15 March

Everything is now ready for the Coppa delle Alpi St. Moritz Edition: the 1000 Miglia winter race and first event of the 2026 Italian Major Events Championship organised by Aci Sport will be held from 12 to 15 March 2026.

As the name suggests, it will be a new version of the event that has now become a tradition: the race will have its beating heart in the cradle of Alpine tourism, glamour and winter sports, St. Moritz.

The international prestige of the Coppa delle Alpi St. Moritz Edition is confirmed by the list of participants, which includes 66 teams that have entered the event representing 15 different countries: alongside a significant presence of teams from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, the event also welcomes participants from the United States, Japan, Taiwan and Greece.

The cars are of the highest calibre, representing 17 automotive brands that have marked the history of motoring. Among the models ready to tackle the Alpine passes, the veteran role goes to a 1928 Chrysler 72, followed by a 1930 Fiat 514 S. The most represented brand is Porsche, which fields an extraordinary variety of models, alongside icons from Lancia, Fiat, Jaguar, Ferrari and others.

It will be spectacular for enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike, ranging from the classic lines of the Aston Martin and Austin Healey of the 1950s to the more recent legends of motor racing from the 1980s and 1990s, such as the Audi Quattro, the Volkswagen Golf GTI 16v, the Ford Escort RS 2000 MK II and the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo.

THE PROGRAMME
The Coppa delle Alpi St. Moritz Edition route will cover approximately 630 kilometres, offering a perfect balance between technical challenges (80 Time Trials, 6 Average Trials, 10 Time Controls, 7 Passage Controls, one Power Stage) and exceptional natural scenery.

The event will get underway on Thursday 12 March 2026, starting at 5 p.m. from Via Maistra, in the heart of St. Moritz. On this first day, the convoy will pass through the idyllic Engadine villages of Madulain and Zuoz, as well as the Montebello Quarry, a landmark for fans of historic rallies and winter regularity racing. The sporting activities will conclude with the eagerly awaited passage on the legendary Olympia Bobrun in Celerina, the oldest bobsleigh track in the world, where the drivers will compete for the “St. Moritz Trophy”.

The second leg on Friday 13 March 2026 will be the centrepiece of the race, crossing into Italian territory. After passing through Bormio, the cars will reach Livigno for a lunch break. Here, on the snow of the Ghiacciodromo, the Power Stage will also take place: three Time Trials which, in addition to counting towards the overall classification, will have their own dedicated ranking and awards. As the opening race of the Aci Sport Italian Major Events Championship, Livigno will be the first Power Stage of the season.

The return to Switzerland will be spectacular, with a passage over the Punt dal Gall dam and a refreshing break at the Engadine Golf Club in Zuoz, the oldest in the country, before finishing again in Via Maistra in St. Moritz at 5.45 p.m.

The final act on Saturday 14 March 2026 will head towards Arosa, a pearl set among the peaks of the canton of Graubünden, with a passage unprecedented in the history of the race: the cars will cross the Vereina tunnel - over 19 kilometres long - on board a train, combining the charm of rail travel with the dynamism of road racing. Once they reach Sagliains station, the crews will compete in the final stages in S-chanf, while the passage and time controls will be carried out in Zuoz. The course of the Inn River will then mark the way back to the final finish line in St. Moritz.

1000 Miglia is becoming increasingly sustainable
In addition to the sporting challenge, the Coppa delle Alpi St. Moritz Edition marks a decisive milestone for 1000 Miglia Srl in its efforts to offset the environmental impact of its events and activities with a view to sustainable development. The company has taken a significant step forward in accounting for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to its events in order to implement Carbon Management policies.

After calculating the carbon footprint of the 2023 edition according to the ISO 14067 standard, 1000 Miglia has extended this calculation method to all the events it organises, obtaining ISO 14067 “Systematic Approach” certification. This recognition confirms that the emissions measurement process follows a robust methodology in line with international best practices, checked by the independent body Bureau Veritas to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. As a result, all events organised by 1000 Miglia can claim compliance with ISO 14067.

As proof of 1000 Miglia Srl's consistent focus on sustainability issues, Bureau Veritas has also confirmed the correct accounting of the GHG inventory of the entire organisation in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard, renewing the certification already obtained in January 2024.

This is a tangible path that combines the preservation of tradition with a conscious vision of the future.
