Alfa Romeo Challenge ASSEN

First 1-hour rsce in the history of the ARC

Huge number of entrants

Because of the large number of entrants, the ARC has the opportunity to organise a 1-hour race for the first time in its history. The main reason for this is that the FIA allows more cars on track in an "endurance race" (58 in stead of 51).And yes it looks like they will have close to the maximum of 58 drivers at this event!

2 heats on SaturdayFor Saturday they will split the field over 2 heats. This enables entrants to drive themselves  and watch their colleagues - and finally verify their impressive claims.

Time scheduleSaturday August 30th11.00 - 11.45 Qualify 30 minutes13.45 - 14.30 Race 1 - heat 1: 30 min + 1 lap16.30 - 17.15 Race 1 - heat 2: 30 min + lap

Compulsory pit-stopAs for many cars the size of the fuel tank is insufficient to cover a 1-hour race, they have scheduled for a compulsory pit-stop. To fuel the car (and driver), allow for a driver change, or to slide in a new CD in the stereo. The stop is set to take a minimum of three minutes, and is for the driver to schedule between the 20th and 40th minute. Drivers may stop for longer if they want.

Yes, everything has been taken in consideration!

Standing startAt the request of many die-hards there will bea standing start - maybe a Le Mans start next year, so start looking for those special sprint shoes for 2009!

Two qualifying sessionsThere will be no Free training.Saturday - qualifying for the sprint race,

Sunday - qualifying for the main race.

The organisers  of the series are very excited to be able to shedule  this 1-hour race, allowing drivers to "experience something different"

They would like to thank the SCARB (Dutch Alfa owners club) and race organiser Jeroen Frieman for their enthusiasms and co-operation in organising such a special event.

The race will be a joined event with (as always) the Scuderia Alfa Classico and (for this time) the Squadra Italia.
