First points for Team Rosberg at the Sachsenring

Team Rosberg from Neustadt an der Weinstraße had a difficult weekend during the second round of the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring. Although Michael Ammermüller and Kenneth Heyer scored the first two points, after finishing seventh at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS, for the squad under Team Boss Arno Zensen both cars failed to make the finish in Sunday’s second race. "Even though the results could have been better we certainly gave the fans at the track and at home in front of the television a great show,” explains Team Manager Peter Reinisch. "The live coverage on Kabel eins is a great thing. I followed the programme in the pits and was impressed by the thrilling wheel-to-wheel action and the great pictures. I think that motorsport fans will certainly spread the word.” In the first race Michael Ammermüller and Kenneth Heyer finished seventh after starting from the sixth row in their Audi R8 LMS with start number 7. For their team mates, former DTM driver Johannes Seidlitz and Austrian Bernd Herndlhofer in the number 8 sister car, the race was over after 31 laps following a trip into the gravel bed. "Herndlhofer was running eighth, saw Ammermüller’s car in his mirrors which subsequently caused him to go off,” explains Peter Reinisch. In the second race both Audi R8 LMS failed to make the finish. For Johannes Seidlitz the race was over after 24 laps due to a clutch problem. Kenneth Heyer, who was racing with an inboard camera from Kabel eins, had to retire after an excursion on the lap 35. "Earlier he had heard noises from the steering,” says Reinisch. "We’ll now check the car.” The Team Manager’s summary after four of the 14 races of the season: "We expected more here since our cars weighed 20 kilos less at this race and our competitors’ cars had to add ballast. The Abt Audis were very fast here. If you analyse our lap times we are behind our rivals both in qualifying and also the race. We want to improve for the next race.” The round of the ADAC GT Masters is held on 29-30 May at the Hockenheimring.
