PETERBOROUGH'S Danish star Kenneth Bjerre leads the World Championship after two rounds thanks to his first-ever Grand Prix victory.Bjerre triumphed in a testing Swedish GP at Gothenburg, holding his nerve superbly in the Final to see off Polish veteran Tomasz Gollob.Andreas Jonsson and Greg Hancock completed the top four, and Bjerre now leads reigning champion Jason Crump by four points after the Aussie failed to reach the semi-finals.Bjerre said: "This year my ambition is to be World Champion. That's why I'm racing. At the minute I can't really believe it. But I'm here where I wantto be."I'm top of the standings, but it doesn't mean much if I don't finish there when the season is over. That's the important thing and there is still along way to go."

POOLE promoter Matt Ford has hinted that several of the club's assets could be set for returns to the Elite League with other clubs.Ford says there has been significant interest in former Grand Prix manGrzegorz Walasek, who last rode for the Pirates in 2006.He said: "So far three different clubs have made approaches to me for Grzegorz as our opponents begin to explore their options and make changes,and I am happy to allow them to speak to Grzegorz as we presently cannot use him due to the averages."I have also had enquiries about Antonio Lindback and Adrian Gomolski, andit would be good for them and British Speedway too if a place could be found."

KING'S Lynn and Great Britain boss Rob Lyon is predicting an exciting British Semi-Final at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday.The top eight riders will go through to the final at Wolverhampton on June14 with a place at Cardiff for the British Grand Prix on the line as well asthe national title.Said Lyon: "The line up is extremely strong and the riders are going into this knowing they have the opportunity to make it all the way to the BritishGP."There simply cannot be anything more motivational or inspirational thanthat so I am sure all 16 riders will fight tooth and nail to gain everyextra point they can get!"
