(SPEEDWAY 1)EDINBURGH have announced plans for a new stadium just a mile from their current Armadale home. The Monarchs are looking to relocate as their current site is earmarked for supermarket development - and the club are hopeful of opening their new track in South Couston, Bathgate, in time for next season.Club Chairman Alex Harkess said: "It is an exciting time for the Club as we enter a period of discussion with the local community over our stadium plans."We believe we have located a site that will have no impact, either with noise, or the main problem we have at the moment, parking. We will be entirely self contained within our site with parking facilities well in excess of our current state."We hope to secure full planning consent by later this year to allow us to begin construction before the end of 2010. We are targeting staging the first meeting at the new site in April 2011."(SPEEDWAY 2)BELLE Vue skipper Hans Andersen has paid tribute to British youngster James Wright after developing a handy partnership. The Danish Grand Prix star, who notched a maximum in Monday's win over Peterborough, says the Stockport racer is great to be with.He said: "James and I have have formed a very good understanding very quickly. He is a very good team rider and we can stay close together without getting in each other's way. We get on well."There is no doubt that riding with James has made me a better rider round Belle Vue. He has ridden here for a few seasons now so he's really dialled in to the best way round it."He is also very quick so having him up there near me during a race is making me go quicker as well."(SPEEDWAY 3)COVENTRY duo Chris Harris and Edward Kennett led the qualifiers from Wednesday's second British Semi-Final at King's Lynn.Harris and Kennett, who finished first and second in last year's Final, both scored 14 points at the Norfolk Arena to book their places at Wolverhampton on June 14.Simon Stead and Lewis Bridger were next in line with 13 points apiece, and the other qualifiers were Chris Schramm, Jason King, Paul Clews and Leigh Lanham.Lee Richardson, recently re-declared into the Lakeside team, was withdrawn with a foot injury after a second-ride crash, but he still intends to make his first appearance back in Hammers colours on Thursday night.

(SPEEDWAY 4)BIRMINGHAM star Chris Kerr suffered a suspected broken leg as the Premier League leaders were hit by a night of disaster against Edinburgh. The Brummies had already lost reserve Jake Anderson after a heavy Heat 2 spill, and Kerr went into the fence in the next race.Edinburgh, with Andrew Tully in particularly impressive form, took full advantage to record a 48-41 victory for their second away win of the Premier League season.Birmingham's anxiety over Kerr will be matched by Elite League club Wolverhampton, for whom the American rider has been a successful doubling-up reserve so far this season.

ALES Dryml is on his way back to Peterborough - and will make his seasonal debut in the Panthers' home fixture against Wolverhampton on Friday. The Showground side have brought back Dryml, who is a club asset, to replace Ulrich Ostergaard after a disappointing run of recent results. They have also named Workington youngster Craig Cook as their new No.8 due to the long-term injury suffered by Joel Parsons.Team boss Trevor Swales said: "We think Ales will strengthen us at home because he has shown that he can do really well at the Showground. How many points teams get from their home meetings could well decide which teams make it into the play-offs and that's one major reason for making this move."Ulrich is a little bit unfortunate but clearly we needed to make a change."

SOMERSET have signed James Holder as a replacement for knee injury victim Tommy Allen.Holder comes into the Rebels side having recently lost his place at Stoke - and his first away match will ironically be back at Loomer Road on Saturday, one day after he makes his debut at home to Sheffield.Co-promoter Debbie Hancock said: "It was a real sickener for Tommy to have aggravated an old knee injury just as it looked as if he was about to come into some form for us. It would appear that his knee is in quite a bad way and might well need an operation, and for this reason we have signed James Holder initially as a 28-day injury replacement for Tommy."It was fortuitous for us that James had recently been released by Stoke as he fits the bill perfectly, coming in as he does on a 4.43 average and so can slot in as direct replacement for Tommy at reserve alongside Mark Baseby."

AUSTRALIAN teenager Michael Penfold is set to make his debut for Glasgow in the home clash with Newport on Sunday. The Tigers are confident that arrangements are in place for his flight in and also for his machinery to arrive, and they expect to re-declare their line-up by Thursday afternoon with Penfold replacing the injured Robert Ksiezak.Co-promoter Alan Dick said: "We know what Michael is capable of and we also know that it will take him a few meetings to get to grips with a track that is very different to what he is used to, indeed this experience is going to be something completely new for him.  "One thing we are told is that he is an exciting rider who never accepts second best so there is no doubt that the fans will take to him very quickly.  "It is sad that he is having to come in due to injury and all we can do is wish Robert a speedy recovery and hope that he is fit and able to return next season. However someone's misfortune is someone else's gain and I hope that Michael grabs this opportunity with both hands."(FIXTURES)THURSDAY MAY 13:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Ipswich v Lakeside 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Redcar v Rye House 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE KO CUP 2nd leg: Sheffield v Birmingham 7.45FRIDAY MAY 14:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Coventry v Ipswich 8pm, Lakeside v Poole 8pm, Peterborough v Wolverhampton 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Edinburgh v King's Lynn 7.30, Somerset v Sheffield 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE KO CUP 2nd leg: Scunthorpe v Newcastle 7.30 NATIONAL LEAGUE: Plymouth v Newport 7.30CHALLENGE: Weymouth v Somerset Giants 7.15 SATURDAY MAY 15:PREMIER LEAGUE: Berwick v King's Lynn 7pm, Rye House v Sheffield 7pm, Stoke v Somerset 7.30, Workington v Newport 7pm DAVID NORRIS FAREWELL: Eastbourne 7.30SUNDAY MAY 16:PREMIER LEAGUE: Glasgow v Newport 4pm, Newcastle v Redcar 6.30 NATIONAL LEAGUE: Buxton v Isle of Wight 3pm, King's Lynn v Weymouth 7.30, Mildenhall v Rye House 5pm, Newport v Scunthorpe 2.30
