Charlie Hollings has been named as the second driver to compete for Chad Racing in the FIA GT3 European Championship 2010, alongside French driver Damien Charveriat. Charlie had his first experience of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia at Brno in the Czech Republic last weekend.
The 27 year old Yorkshireman will be driving for the leading British team in the championship, which will take place across Europe over the next six months. Some of the most prestigious names in motor-racing will also be participating, including Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Corvette. The two one hour races, which take place every round, will be streamed live on the sports channel Motors TV.
Due to the last minute signing, there was no opportunity for testing before Charlie arrived in the Czech Republic. Laps were also limited because of red flags during the three practice sessions on Friday, so qualifying was the first real chance for Charlie to get to grips with the car.
Hollings said, “It was great to get behind the wheel last weekend, and it gave us an opportunity to really learn more about the car and find out where we stand against the competition. Both Damien and I learnt more, and completed more laps, in the races themselves than during the rest of the weekend put together. Changing weather conditions meant different tyre choices for the races and things definitely didn’t always go our way. However we have a very fast car, good data and experience to build on, and Damien and I have worked together many times before and know each other’s strengths. So, I’m really looking forward to the next round at Jarama in Spain and the rest of the season. The team and the car will be great, and I’m completely confident this will be a storming year.”
