The stars of the Ginetta Junior Championship are set to thrill racegoers at Oulton Park this weekend as the competition becomes ever more intense.
With six rounds (of 20) completed, the Ginetta Junior Championship is more competitive than ever. A new car, the Ginetta G40, new teams and drivers, plus a few returnees, has made for thrilling and unpredictable races and this weekend's double-header will be no exception.
The championship can boast four different winners in the six races so far with Jake Hill being the only man to win more than once. Indeed, Hill has bagged three victories but exclusion from race one at Brands Hatch for his part in an accident cost him 19 points. That means that he trails Thruxton winner Tom Ingram by 32 points and will be keen to turn the tables this weekend.
Ingram has been the model of consistency. He hasn't won since Easter at Thruxton but has never finished lower than fifth and, despite fears about his season-long funding, keeps scoring valuable points. Another win this weekend would do his hopes of securing the required budget no harm at all.
David Moore has taken four third places as he becomes more comfortable in the new G40 model and has looked happier in the car than his sister, reigning champion, Sarah Moore. Sarah tangled with Hill at Brands Hatch but has only a sixth place to her name as her best result. As yet, the best hasn't been seen of the feisty Yorkshire lass.
Other winners are Tom Howard and Jody Fannin. Howard secured honours at Rockingham and a second place at Brands Hatch has helped his championship quest, while Fannin was impressive to win at Brands Hatch when he came out on top of a three-car battle. Oulton Park will be new to Fannin but he has shown that he can adapt quickly to the most challenging of circuits and he should be in the leading group this weekend.
