A first victory of the 2010 season for the Repsol Honda rider, which came from pole position, was a reward for all the hard work put in by his team he said.
Dani Pedrosa moved up to second place in the World Championship standings on Sunday with his first win of the season at Mugello, and immediately stated how sweet victory tasted after the amount of hard work put in by his team and himself.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to win again. We’ve been working really hard and we had some problems through the winter and in the first races, so I’m really delighted with this victory, especially after leading at Jerez for so long but not quite making it,” said Pedrosa, who finished second in round two after starting from pole.
At Mugello on Sunday however Pedrosa never gave up a lead he held from start to finish as he crossed the line just over four seconds ahead of Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo. It was evidence that the 24 year-old is back to a level he feels competitive at aboard his factory RC212V and he hopes to carry that into the next three rounds, a trio of back-to-back GPs that begins at Silverstone in two weeks.
“It looks like we are back near where we need to be and the team deserves the victory. I had a great feeling on the bike today, especially at the beginning section of the race and I could open up a gap,” he said. “It’s important that we are competitive now because we have one weekend off and then three races in a row. The next race is at Silverstone which is a legendary track so I hope that we can match this kind of performance there - and also that this part of England has better weather!”
Pedrosa was also one of the many riders who wished Valentino Rossi well after his operation. “I want to thank the fans here for pushing for Valentino because he’s having a hard time and everyone in the paddock wishes him well,” concluded Pedrosa.
