Harvey aims for most wins in Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend

Tim Harvey is set to return to Croft this weekend for the ninth and tenth rounds of The Porsche Carrera Cup GB, and is aiming to secure the win that will make him the most successful winning driver in the history of the championship.  Harvey is currently head-to-head with Richard Westbrook, the 2004 Carrera Cup winner, with 31 wins each.

With seven wins out of eight races, and a podium finish at last week’s Porsche Carrera Cup race at Le Mans, Harvey has had a fantastic first half of the season.  However, with twelve rounds to go, the 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup winner knows there is still everything to play for.

This is the local circuit for Harvey’s race team, Redline Racing, and the team are set on improving Harvey’s impressive 32 point lead in the Championship in front of a home crowd, with Harvey leading the impressive six car line-up for the Stockton-on-Tees team.  However, the local association with Croft Circuit does not stop there.  Nationwide, the UK’s largest fixed site and mobile vehicle body repairer, has sponsored Harvey since 2007 and Harvey’s vehicle is painted and maintained by the Nationwide Crash Repair Centre in Middlesbrough, who refreshed the car prior to its previous championship outing at Oulton Park.

“I had a great time at Le Mans last weekend.  It brought back fantastic memories and it was wonderful to get a podium in front of nearly 300,000 spectators –and also to race without the concerns of championship points!” explained Harvey, “However, with 22 points at stake every race and some very fast drivers in the pack, I’m not about to get complacent. This is a particularly important race for Redline, and the Nationwide team at Middlesbrough, as it is their home circuit – and I am determined to secure that 32nd race win at least!”

Harvey is testing today, with qualifying on Saturday at 14.35.  On Sunday, the two Carrera Cup races are at 12.45 and 16.25, with both races scheduled to be shown live on ITV4 in the BTCC race day programme, which starts at 11.30am.  Harvey, as usual, will also be commenting on the three touring car races with ITV.
