ULRICH Ostergaard is on his way back to Belle Vue for a second spell with the club. The Dane has been recruited to replace Tobias Kroner and will race at Wolverhampton on Monday - but the Aces now have another gap to fill as reserve William Lawson has resigned his place in the team.Manager Chris Morton said: "We are very happy to have Ulrich back because he will slot into a reserve berth when the July averages come into force."I've had a letter from William saying he had decided reluctantly to resign because the move was not working out for him financially. I'm very disappointed because we have made him aware we have been happy with his progress."

LAKESIDE'S popular Swedish star Jonas Davidsson has been ruled out for a fortnight after a crash in Poland on Thursday.Davidsson was hit by a stray machine and was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries, meaning he will miss the Hammers' home clash with Eastbourne.Manager Jon Cook said: "It's a blow to lose JD for tonight's home League match against Eastbourne plus at Peterborough on Monday as he has been our form rider of late and Rider Replacement will not be a worthy cover for him."But I am sure that the rest of the team will step up to the challenge, and he should be fit to return in time for our meeting on the 12th July."

SWINDON boss Ronnie Russell believes the Robins have the potential to stage a run to the top four during the second half of the season.Russell saw his side collect three more points with an emphatic 60-36 home win over Eastbourne, and he feels they are running into form at the right time.Russell said: "The win last week at Ipswich was the catalyst to start our second half of the season and this result follows on from that. A big win like this will do the team a world of good. It will act as a huge confidence booster and that is vital in speedway."We've successfully put distance between ourselves and the teams beneath us.Now we're on a charge to catch the sides above us in the league as we work towards securing a play-off berth."

NEWCASTLE overcame the second-ride loss of Kenni Larsen to take a 47-43 win at Redcar in the first leg of their Knockout Cup tie.Larsen suffered a bang on the head in a crash in Heat 6 and could take no further part - but veteran Mark Lemon kept up his vintage run of form with a 15-point maximum, including a last-heat 5-1 with Rene Bach.It was the Diamonds' second away win in three days, having earlier overcome King's Lynn to reach the Premier Trophy Final. The second leg of the Cup-tie takes place on Sunday, with Newcastle having put the start-time back by half an hour to 7pm.Manager George English said: "This was a good solid result for us and had we had Kenni's services for the whole meeting then I honestly believe we would have taken a very big win indeed, but as it is we've set Sunday at seven up for a good exciting conclusion to this Cup Quarter final."

Joe was in superb form and we had to battle hard but it keeps us well on target."
