Josef Newgarden will get his first taste of a street circuit this weekend, as the GP3 Series heads tothe Spanish port of Valencia for the next round of the 2010 championship.

The circuit utilizes the roads around the city's port area – including a section over a 140 metre longswing bridge, and also includes some roads designed exclusively for racing purposes. Newgardenwill be keen to learn the course as quickly as possible – something he is getting increasingly usedto doing this year.

The 19 year-old American has endured a challenging start to his season in the F1 support series,with his results unrepresentative of both his speed and potential. However, Newgarden is enjoyingevery second of his time in the GP3 Series, taking full advantage of the opportunity to race withsuch a competitive field.

Speaking about his hopes for the weekend, the Carlin driver said: “I’ve never driven on a streetcircuit before, so I can’t wait to get into the car and start turning some laps around Valencia. We’vehad some complications in the first few rounds, but I really think everything will come together for usthis weekend. There is such a high level of competition amongst the drivers, so it’s really importantfor me to get to grips with the course quickly, so we can hopefully challenge for a strong result inqualifying and both races.”

Free practice takes place on Friday, with qualifying on Saturday morning at 08:45 local time. Raceone gets underway on Saturday afternoon at 17:20, with race two at 09:45 on Sunday morning.The GP3 Series will be supporting both the GP2 Series and the European Grand Prix.
