King shows ‘em who’s Boss with prestigious ambassadorial role

Things are looking good for Jordan King right now, for not only did the highly-rated young Warwickshire karting star recently notch up his finest result of the season to-date with a brilliant double podium finish to keep himself firmly in the title hunt in the hotly-fought national Super 1 Series at Rowrah in Cumbria, but off-track he has also been selected for a very prestigious role indeed.

Every year, leading international fashion and lifestyle brand Hugo Boss snaps up a promising young racing driver or two as sporting ambassadors, providing them with clothes, suits and accessories for casual wear and going on to support its protégés throughout their competitive careers.

Nico Rosberg is one such example, and the German is now regularly delivering a thrashing to record-breaking multiple F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher weekend-in, weekend-out on the grand prix grid at Mercedes. Watch this space – because Jordan King could just be next in-line.

“It’s really exciting and a fantastic opportunity, and because Hugo Boss is such a big company it should be really good for my profile,” enthused the 16-year-old Harbury hotshot of the partnership that will see him carry the distinctive black logo on his kart, race suit and helmet. “I was supposed to go to one of their launches and unfortunately couldn’t because I had exams, but I’m sure there will be other possibilities.”

That there undoubtedly will be, but in the meantime Jordan has been keeping himself race-sharp and fighting fit by finishing a superb second in the Derbyshire County Athletics Championships 800-metres, with no specific prior training – demonstrating that he is every bit as lightning-quick on his feet as he is behind the wheel.

“Running is a part of my physical training programme, and I’ve run three events for my school,” explained the Repton School pupil. “Two of them were inter-school competitions, and I won both of them.”

And whilst he has yet to replicate that feat on the circuit in 2010, as the halfway point approaches and he eases increasingly into his stride, that first victory of the campaign is surely not far away either...
