Marco Barba (Cedars) won the second Magny-Cours race after Frenchman EmmanuelPiget (GTemoción), who had crossed the line in first position, was penalised after therace (for undertaking under yellow) losing a maiden win at home in the European F3Open. In a lively, closely-fought and incident-packed race, Marco Barba, who hadstarted from the back of the grid, strengthened his leadership in the championship, ashis main rival, Callum Macleod had to retire when he was leading. Biagio Bulnes (RP)was third, while Antoine Beltoise (Top F3) completed the French success by taking thewin among Cup in his first participation in the F3 Open.
For Race 2, Ceccon and MacLeod are in row 1, ahead of Bulnes and Piget.At the start, Macleod is faster ahead of Ceccon, who tries to close him, whileFernandez passes third during the first lap Fumanelli (who has jumped the start andwill get a drive-through), Piget and Bulnes. Behind, there is a contact between Monjeand Correa, while Barba is 11th .
In lap 7, Ceccon attacks MacLeod in the last corner before the straight but spins andretires. Monje passes Villalba and Barba is already 5th, getting closer to Bulnes andpassing him in lap 11. At the beginning of lap 12, Mcleod goes wide in the S before thestraight and Fernández who was close behind him cannot avoid hitting and climbingover the Briton’s car, which his out of the race, while Fernández loses his front wingand the safety-car gets in for two laps.
At the re-start, Piget flies away while Barba passes Fernández. The Hache driver, witha damaged car, is blocking the pack, where fight is particularly fierce betweenBulnes, Jammal (leading among Cup), Monje, Filgueira and Villalba, who gets offtrack.In lap 17, following a wheel-to-wheel contact with Filgueira, Jamal takes offand rolls a number of times, but luckily the Lebanese driver is perfectly ok. Piget winsahead of Barba, Bulnes and the two EmiliodeVillota drivers, Monje and Sistos, whileBeltoise takes a brilliant win among the Cup ahead of Quesada and Filgueira.
