You’ll have little trouble picking out BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National driver Ashley Freiberg from the pack this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
Like most race car drivers, Freiberg has her own superstitions and unbeknownst to many, she will not go on track unless both she andher race car are wearing the color pink. When she arrives at a race weekend, Ashley brings her custom painted helmet sporting the bright color, and by the time she goes out on track, her Formula Skip Barber vehicle will carry her nickname “Pink Nightmare” with perhaps some bright pink racer tape on the nose cone. However this weekend at NJMP, she takes it up a notch…or maybe four.
This weekend when Freiberg goes out on the NJMP circuit she will do so in a Formula Skip Barber race car equipped with specially produced pink wheels. The Homer Glen, Ill. Driver, fifth in Skip Barber National points heading into this weekend, is the defending Skip Barber Southern Race Series champion and point leader in the Skip Barber Summer Race Series and will be looking to improve on her career best National finish of 3rd, which she earned last season at Road America.
