A Speedy Weekend at Harewood

August 7th and 8th sees Harewood Speed Hillclimb host two Championship meetings:

Saturday is the Yorkshire Speed Meeting with a good proportion of Lotus drivers attending, plus an exciting mixture of hot hatches, single seat racing cars and highly tuned sports cars among the 83 competitors already booked in.

Sunday is the annual Montague Burton Meeting, featuring a similarly wide range of competitors, but with an event bigger Lotus contingent and a large number of Austin Healeys making up the 116 entries, all attempting to “beat the clock” racing on the UK’s longest permanent hillclimb course.

Harewood Speed Hillclimb is located off the A659 between Leeds & Harrogate and well signposted on all approach roads. Spectators can get close to the cars in the paddock, talk to the drivers and see the course that left Top Gear’s The Stig speechless in admiration when he recently breezed in to test the fastest 11 hatchbacks on sale.

Catering and refreshments, picnic tables and seating are provided and there are trackside displays showing each competitor’s speed and time up the course, plus an informative commentary.

Spectator entrance is just £10 per person for each meeting and children under 14 are free of charge. All future meeting dates are detailed on the website at harewoodhill.com along with some exciting videos of competing cars racing in what must be Yorkshire’s most scenic motorsport location.

So come along and experience the sights, sounds and thrills that make Harewood Speed Hillclimb such a unique form of motor racing, but be careful – it can be highly addictive
