BELLE Vue big hitters Hans Andersen and Peter Karlsson led the Aces to a convincing 56-38 Elite League victory over Peterborough at Kirkmanshulme Lane last night.Skipper Andersen scored 14 and Karlsson 12 as they dropped only one point apiece to riders in a Peterborough side who had won eight of their previous ten matches.Patrick Hougaard warmed up for Saturday's World Under-21 round in Latvia with three heat wins while Filip Sitera, Belle Vue's new Czech signing, showed some encouraging signs with three points.Team boss Chris Morton said: "I was delighted with this win against a side who have been doing well. Filip made some good starts and I thought the decision to exclude him from this third ride for causing the race to be stopped was harsh. I also think he gave an answer to fans who criticised his signing."Meanwhile, Panthers skipper Niels-Kristian Iversen apologised to supporters after being forced out of the meeting having taken two scoreless rides. The Dane is struggling with a leg injury.(SPEEDWAY 2)

WOLVERHAMPTON expect to have Polish star Adam Skornicki back for their top-of-the-table home clash with Poole a week on Monday. The reigning champions extended their Monmore winning run to 42 matches with a hard-fought 50-40 victory over local rivals Coventry, for whom Chris Harris and Edward Kennett both won three races.Wolves' No.1 Freddie Lindgren dropped his only point to Harris, but he won both of the crucial Heat 13 and 15 races to ensure all three points for his side, who were using the rider-replacement facility for knee injury victim Skornicki.Wolves boss Peter Adams said: "There was no way we would have found a suitable replacement with an average like Adam's with the ability to score his points. I'm naturally pleased he is on the mend and we can look forward to having him back."It's always difficult for us to cover with rider replacement but we have got by and the Poole meeting will be fabulous, we're looking forward to that."

SOMERSET promoter Debbie Hancock looked at the bigger picture after seeing the Rebels held to a draw in a dramatic televised clash with Glasgow. The Oak Tree Arena side led by six points with two heats to go, but the Tigers hit back and a last heat 5-1 from Travis McGowan and Joe Screen secured the 45-45 result.Hancock said: "Whilst we are obviously disappointed to have dropped vital home points as we looked to qualify for the Young Shield, at the end of the day speedway, and in particular the Premier League, were the real winners tonight."Glasgow certainly played their part in making this the meeting it was, credit is due to all thirteen riders on show tonight for putting on such an excellent night of racing!"

NEWCASTLE have parted company with reserve Anders Andersen after a disappointing run of form. The Diamonds, who suffered a home defeat against Premier League title rivals Edinburgh on Sunday, are yet to comment on the identity of Andersen's replacement.Manager George English said: "We spoke with Anders after the meeting on Sunday  and both agreed that his awful run of bad form was no going to get better and that a break from Newcastle, and indeed speedway in general would be the best for his future career."He will return to Denmark where he will have an operation to remove the metalwork from his injured leg, and then rest, recuperate, and regain his lost confidence."The split with the Diamonds is completely amicable with no animosity at all and we all at the club wish Anders the very best for the future, and who knows in seasons to come, if all goes well, he may well be back in our colours."
