Oulton Set for Porsche Club Race Action

Oulton Park hosts rounds nine and ten of the 2010 Porsche Club Championship, which has seen some exiting race action so far this season and this weekend’s, Saturday August 14th raceday, should be no exception. In Class One Mark McAleer did the early winning, before Marcus Carniel finally ended his run of victories at Silverstone in June, and Carniel and Pete Morris shared the wins at Snetterton in July – at a meeting which saw McAleer out with a damaged car.

McAleer will be keen to be back out and chasing championship points, he still heads the Class One table but Carniel, Morris and Miles Maserati are closing in. Carniel is at his local track at Oulton and the only driver to win in a rear-engined car so far this season, his 964 C2 quick off the line and strong early in the race, while the front-engined 968 CS cars of his closest rivals can be easier on their tyres over the full race.

Leading the championship overall is Chris Dyer, who has done the majority of the wining in Class Two. The Yorkshireman hasn’t has it all his own way, coming under pressure from Cieran Brewer at every circuit, with Richard Bennett right amongst them in the last four races. At Oulton Park the Class two runners will have their own race, qualifying and then racing alongside the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge runners.

Qualifying for the Porsche Club Class One runners is at 10.00 with races at 13.50 and 17.05. The Class Two competitors qualify at 09.00 and then race at 11.35 and 15.30 – all races are of 25-minutes duration.
