(SPEEDWAY 1)SWINDON have signed 19-year-old Polish hotshot Maciek Janowski as a replacement for Thomas H Jonasson.Jonasson is serving a ban after failing to make it to the Robins' match at Ipswich on Monday, and Janowski will make his debut against Coventry on Thursday.Boss Ronnie Russell said: "The absence of Thomas means we've had to bring in a replacement to fill a second-string capacity. We're delighted to have secured Janowski, who has already achieved plenty in his short career."I know that Leigh Adams has been impressed when he's seen Maciek ride in Poland and we're hopeful that this short stint in British speedway will lead to greater things in 2011. I urge the Swindon fans to make Maciek feel very welcome on Thursday, as I'm sure he'll be feeling a little nervous before the action gets underway."
(SPEEDWAY 2)POOLE promoter Matt Ford feels the upcoming clashes between his side and Wolverhampton could be a prelude to the Play-Off Final later this season.Reigning Elite League champions Wolves travel to Wimborne Road to face the2008 winners on Wednesday, with the return at Monmore Green next Monday and the two teams holding the top two places in the table.Ford said: "Wolves will be looking to try and gain psychological advantage and upset our 100% home record but the passion of the Pirates is such that it won't take much to motivate our lads. "They were disappointed that they only managed one league point on Monday at Belle Vue and they are also upset that their performance at Wolverhampton earlier in the year did not show them at their best. "Our next two matches are against the Wolves and there is a strong possibility that these two meetings could be a dress rehearsal for the play-offs. I am really looking forward to it and I hope that the public can come along and really get behind our boys, for that little extra lift that a partisan crowd always gives a home side."

WORKINGTON will be without both Peter Kildemand and Richard Lawson when they face Premier League title favourites Edinburgh on Saturday. The Comets will at least have Andre Compton back in the team after a recent lay-off but boss Ian Thomas knows his team face a tough test without Kildemand (broken hand) and Lawson (shoulder injury).Thomas said: "I know already that Richard can't be included on Saturday and unfortunately we can't get in a guest at reserve. If this had happened after September 1 we would have been able to do just that."As it happens we have to book a National League rider to fill his place - and that's a nightmare in itself. You can't book a rider who is doubling up in the Premier League or who has ever had an average in excess of four in the Premier League."We have booked Steven Worrall from Scunthorpe Saints but of course it's going to be a massive step-up for him taking on the Premier League champions elect."
