Butcher joins Porsche Carrera Cup GB for Knockhill

Rory Butcher will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for rounds 15 and 16 at his home track of Knockhill next weekend (4/5 September). The Young Scot will join the Celtic Speed team for the weekend and will make it a four-car entry from the Montrose team. Butcher (23) will join Tommy Dreelan, George Brewster and Bob Lyons in the squad and will race the older pro-am2 car of Dreelan in the pair of Knockhill races.Butcher raced in the Carrera Cup at Knockhill in 2008 when he starred in the VIP car, twice finishing fifth overall and winning the pro-am2 category. Since then, he has enjoyed considerable success in Formula Ford, winning both the 2009 Scottish title and the Formula Ford Kent Festival at Brands Hatch. In 2010, Butcher has made the switch to GT racing."I got a call from Tommy a couple of weeks ago and I jumped at the chance," said Butcher. "I'm just so delighted. Knockhill is probably one of the circuits where the pro-am2 car is at its most competitive." Butcher has worked with the Celtic crew for several years and has coached Dreelan's daughter Gemma at Knockhill for her Mini Cooper racing programme."It's that time of the year when people remember the results and it's a chance to remind people of what I can do," he said. "I want to build for 2011 and I'd love the chance to race in the Carrera Cup. I owe a very big thanks to Tommy and the crew at Celtic Speed; they run a good car and I hope I can get a good result for them."
