Double Podium Finish for Atech Reid GP at Brands Hatch

Tio Ellinas has secured two outstanding podiums this weekend at round 9 of the CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship at Brands Hatch.

The Cypriot finished third in race one and capitalized on a drive through penalty served to Fortec driver Alex Lynn to finish second in race 2 and has since closed the gap on the championship to 27 points. Ellinas is still in contention for championship glory as we head into the last round of the season at Silverstone in just two weeks time.

"I tried my best to really push for podiums this weekend but in race two today it was great to make up some serious ground on the championship, everything is still on for Silverstone." Tio stated "The team and I were trying a lot this weekend to improve the car and now I think we are there so we will wait and see in a couple of weeks time!"

Dan Wells had a mixed weekend of results. After qualifying a consistent 5th place for both races this weekend the Salisbury driver slipped to 11th in race one but was determined for a podium finish in race 2. After an outstanding start to the race, Dan drove through the pack to find himself in third, holding off Daniel Cammish and Josh Hill until the very last lap to finish a season best in 4th.

"This weekend has been full of mixed results." Dan stated. "Race one was unfortunate because I made a mistake and slipped back but, in race two I was really pushing for a podium and in the end I just couldn't hold off Cammish. Nonetheless to finish this weekend with two solid 5th place qualifying positions and a season best race finish in 4th I have to be positive. Silverstone is in a couple of weeks time and that's where I will be focusing my attention to."

Newcomer to the team, Geoff Uhrhane finished 13th in both races this weekend but was improving every time he jumped into the car. The Australian driver has made the difficult transition to wings and slicks so late in the year, a tough ask for any driver but completed both races without any damage and is looking forward to more testing over the winter.

"It was tougher than I initially thought it would be to jump into the Formula Renault this weekend." Geoff stated. "But, I improved every time I got into the car and finished both races without any damage and that is important. This weekend was treated as a test day for me and I have defiantly learnt a lot from it. I am now looking forward to getting into the car to do some serious testing over the winter period so when I get back racing in 2012 I will be at the pointy end of the field."

The final round of the 2011 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship is at Silverstone over the 15th and 16th of October.
