It was an action packed weekend for the final round of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch. It really showed the highs and lows of racing and the hardest result of the weekend came from Gimoto wearer Ben Wilson who narrowly missed out on winning the British Supersport title to his rival all season Alastair Seeley.
The British Superbike races were hotly contested and sadly Gimoto rider Gary Mason had to sit out the weekend. Despite this, Gimoto wearer Barry Burrell put in two great performances and took a second and third in the Evo races and was unlucky to hit wet tarmac and crash out of race two, Burrell managed to secure third place in the Evo Championship standings on the Buildbase BMW.
Ben Wilson on the Gearlink Kawasaki gave all his effort this weekend at Brands Hatch after a crash and a bike issue at Silverstone, the race went down to the final Supersport race but Ben was unable to push anymore and had to settled for second in the race and the Championship, he lost the title by only one mark.
The other heated race of the weekend was the highly competitive 125 class and Gimoto wearer Wayne Ryan also missed out narrowly on winning the British title. He rode a stunning race and could have done no more taking a fantastic win in the race and loosing out on the title by two points, the races in all categories could not have been any closer this season.
The Superstock 1000 race was forced to be cancelled after two serious incidents occurred during the opening laps. Buildbase BMW rider Richard Cooper wearing Gimoto, who won the Championship at Silverstone Circuit, was unlucky to crash out on the first lap but escaped uninjured. Gimoto wearer Danny Buchan managed to clinch second place in the Championship.
In the frantic National Superstock 600 race Gimoto wearer Glenn Irwin once again had another stunning race and was lucky to avoid crashing out of the first part of the race when six riders crashed into turn one after hitting a damp part on the track forcing the race to be red flagged. On the re-start Glenn meant business and was eager to end the season on a high note, winning the race by nearly three seconds and finishing second overall in the Championship standings. Connor Behan also wearing Gimoto finished a solid third place in the Championship.
All the staff at MotoComp and Gimoto would like to congratulate all their riders this season and also wish their injured riders a speedy recovery. It has been a very good season and they hope that 2012 will be just as successful.
