More than 30 cars on track in the first, out of the seven, double rounds of Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS. In Monza, this weekend (24 and 25 March) there will be the green light of the new season. 11 Teams and drivers from 14 different countries are part of the high quality International lineup for the second season of the Series managed by Fast Lane Promotion.
Several the protagonists to look after, starting from Tech1 Racing the 2011 champion team. The team from Tolosa will have the two Frenchmen Paul-Loup Chatin (already among the 2011 protagonists) and Matthieu Vaxiviere, the Brazilian Felipe Fraga, the Russian Roman Mavlanov and the driver from Colombia Oscar Tunjo.
Plenty of come backs as the one of Arta Engineering, Epic Racing and Interwetten.com, but also several new comers. Among these there is the Finnish Koiranen Motorsport one with seven drivers. Among them the most talented is for sure the young Daniil Kvyat, him too from Russia, third overall in the 2011 Eurocup. Debut also for the Luxemburg team RC Formula, that will line up a prestigious name: Aurélien Panis, 17 years old, son of Olivier, who raced 157 F1 Gran prix winning in Montecarlo in 1996 on a Ligier.
New entry for the English Atech Reid GP, with the British Alessandro Latif and the more experienced Edolo Ghirelli, last season third overall in the challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Brixia Horse Power by Facondini, will also join the series for the first time lining up a car for the Italian Andrea Baiguera, arriving from the Italian F.Renault 2.0.
Expectations are high for the other Italian Simone Iaquinta, that after having raced in F3, opted for the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS with the Team Torino Motorsport squadron. With the same team managed by Marco Braghero and Giacomo Notarrigo will also race the two Mexicans “Alex” Abogado and Luis Michael Dörrbecker. Attention on the Austrian Thomas Jäger, that last season in Monza managed a third overall and this year will race on one of the Fabiano Belletti One Racing cars.
De Val Nicola and Stefano twins will also make their debut after having driven in the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 where they scored one win each. For them the cars of the GSK Grand Prix.
The Monza venue will be followed by respectively Pau (on the traditional city track), Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, Red Bull Ring, Mugello and Barcellona, with the latest jointly with the World Series by Renault weekend. The schedule of this weekend will have free practices on Friday splitted in three different sessions. On Saturday morning at 10.20 there will be the single qualifying session of 30 minutes, while Race 1 is scheduled at 15.20 (25 minutes plus a lap). Sunday at 14.45 Race 2 green light, with the grid made up by the second fastest qualifying lap time.
