Jordan back in BTCC action at Snetterton

Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing will continue their challenge for the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship when the action resumes at Snetterton (3/4 August) following a six-week summer break. The annual visit to the East Anglian track marks the start of the second half of the season for rounds 16, 17 and 18 and with the remaining four race weekends coming in 11 weeks it is going to be a dramatic and high-pressure race to the title. After a fabulous first half of 2013 for Pirtek Racing, Andrew is firmly in the battle for the overall title, holding second place just 19 points behind Matt Neal. Former champion Jason Plato and reigning champion Gordon Shedden are tied for third, with another former champion Colin Turkington fifth, so Andrew is right in among the biggest names in the BTCC.Andrews team mate Jeff Smith holds eighth overall in the driver standings, while Pirtek Racing holds third in the HiQ Teams Championship and has a very healthy 37-point overall lead in the Independents Team Trophy. Meanwhile, Andrew leads the Independents Trophy by 30 points with Jeff holding fourth in the Pirtek Racing Honda Civics.During the calendar break most teams completed two days of testing at Snetterton in very hot weather and Andrew says that the test sessions produced mixed results. Testing was a bit hit and miss and we tried some things that didnt work, reported Andrew. We tested with a lot of weight on the car and I think race two will be our strongest. Snetterton is the circuit where the success ballast hurts the most: there are so many stops and starts for very slow corners. Well start the weekend with 36kg of ballast so we just need to keep being consistent. We had a win at Snetterton last year.Andrew knows that the next 11 weeks will be a big challenge for everyone at Pirtek Racing. There will be so many ups and downs for everyone over the second half of the year, so we just need to keep scoring. Well take risks if we need to, but right now we really need to be consistent. There is still a long way to go.After qualifying on Saturday 3 August at 15.20, the first of three BTCC races will be at 12.00 on Sunday, with race two at 14.35 and race three at 17.00. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
