ADD Motorsports racer Oli Norris was left to rue more bad luck after what he termed one of his worst weekends on the track.
The Glastonbury driver saw his engine blow up in one heat, was unable to finish another and then found himself black flagged in the final of the Rotax Super One.
But the 16-year-old has vowed to bounce back from the frustrating weekend. He said: It was the worst weekend I have had in karting. The engine blew and I got black flagged.I was fast in qualifying but never really had a chance to get going. Its really frustrating. Im having a lot of bad luck at the moment. But were back in mainland Europe next race and it will be better next time out.
Oli recorded some quick lap times in qualifying although couldnt get up to his top speeds as a mixture of rain and other drivers blocking his route stopped him from getting a clear run.
But after finishing mid-pack for the first heat, his race was finished by the second lap when his engine blew up. The second heat was over by lap six as he found himself again unable to finish the race.
Things started to look up when Oli finished in 15th place in the pre-final, despite starting in 28th position.
A higher finish had even looked on the cards if the small track hadnt made it easy for others drivers to defend their positions and stop him over-taking. But his weekend took another disappointing turn when he was involved in a 10-kart shunt on the first corner of the final.Despite finding a way to get back on track quickly, he attempted to overtake when the drivers were warned to slow and he was black-flagged.He said: I hadnt realized the flag was up and tried to over-take. It was a really annoying way to end the weekend.Things have been really frustrating. Weve been posting some quick lap times but never really had the chance to put a run together and had some awful luck recently.
Im looking forward to racing back in mainland Europe and putting things right in the next race.
