Andy Richardson aims to shine as Formula Ford resumes this weekend

Andy Richardson will hope to impress when the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain roars back into action this weekend at Snetterton.

The South Lincolnshire-based 21-year-old heads to the longest circuit on the calendar sitting eighth in the overall championship standings and fourth amongst the Scholarship Class runners in what is his first season of single-seater competition.

Despite no pre-season testing, Andy showed his speed throughout the opening half of the campaign to pick up two overall podium finishes and establish himself as one to watch at the front of the field.

Having endured a challenging end to the first half of the year at Croftwhere he still managed to take two Scholarship Class podiumsAndy will now aim to return to the fight for honours in the latest three rounds of the season.

With a successful two-day test at Snetterton having given both Andy and the Richardson Racing team the opportunity to further improve its Ford EcoBoost-powered Mygale, confidence is high going into the weekend, with Andy seeking to at least add to his overall podium tally.

Testing went well, although we had a few overheating issues with the engine which we hope are now solved, he said. Ideally well get some dry weather for testing on Friday so that we can see how the engine is now performing and also so we can work on fine-tuning the set-up after the work we carried out at the test. However, the weather suggests there could be showers, which might work against us.

We didnt time ourselves at the test as that wasnt our focus, but others did and said we were close to the pace of our rivals so the potential is there to fight at the front. We have to see how things pan out when the real action gets underway as you never know what people are doing when it comes to testing.

However, the car feels strong and the testing we did has allowed us to work a good base set-up that we can tweak at the different circuits. Im now feeling a lot more comfortable and happier in the car as a result, which is helping me to push harder to get the maximum from it.

We have more changes to make and the aim is to try and secure some strong results from the weekend. While Ill be pushing as hard as ever, it would be good to bring home some silverware for my dad for the work he has put in with the boys so far this season as it would be the ideal birthday present for him for next week!
