POOLE raced to their second successive 56-38 victory with a powerful all-round performance to get the better of Eastbourne and move back into fourth place in the Elite League.Greg Hancock scored ten points on his Pirates debut as all seven riders were paid for at least one race win, whilst the in-form Tomas H Jonasson top-scored with 12+1Poole promoter Matt Ford said: I cannot praise the performances from all the riders enough over the last two home meetings. Well enjoy the moment, but we know were going to need the same attitude and commitment on Wednesday week against a rejuvenated Peterborough side if we are going to maintain our push for a top four place.(SPEEDWAY 2)
SHEFFIELD are awaiting fitness updates on three riders following their heavy defeat at Newcastle on Sunday. The Tigers have already lost Simon Stead for the rest of the season with a broken leg and now Facundo Albin, Damien Koppe and Joe Haines are battling to be fit for this weeks schedule.Co-boss David Hoggart said: Thankfully there are no broken bones for Facu. PLYMOUTH face the prospect of two Premier League meetings against West Country rivals Somerset this weekend without the services of captain Cory Gathercole.Gathercole is suffering from a knee injury which he received in the home meeting against Rye House on July 5.Co-promoter Ashley Taylor said: We are awaiting the results of a scan to assess the full extent of the injury. We will have to look at the long-term situation and consider the options once we have had a discussion with Cory.In addition to Gathercoles injury, Plymouth are also having to delay selection of their team to visit Somerset on Friday evening because of fitness problems involving Todd Kurtz (groin) and reserve Simon Nielsen (shoulder)whilst Mikkel Bech will miss the home match due to his participation in the World Under-21 Championship.(SPEEDWAY 4)
JAKE Knight is to return to Kings Lynns National League team as a replacement for Steve Worrall.Knight left the Young Stars earlier in the season to concentrate on Premier League racing for Sheffield but lost his place with the Tigers as part of their own re-shuffle.Kings Lynn boss Dale Allitt said: Jake has been practicing after meetings at King's Lynn, he's looking good and I think he is ready to come back into the side. He's got himself a new engine and I think he can do a decent job for us.I've spoken to Steve, and we both came to the same conclusion, it was quite amicable in deciding he would leave.

STOKE have moved quickly to sign Steve Worrall following his release from Kings Lynn, with former No.1 Lee Smart making way for the Potters.Worrall follows in the footsteps of brother Richie, who rode for the Loomer Road club last season.Stoke boss Malcolm Vasey said: When we heard that Steve was available we were immediately on to him and quickly agreed a deal to bring him to Stoke. He has blown quite a few engines recently and has bought new equipment and is raring to go, but in order to put the investment that was required to buy new equipment he has had to take on a job which means he could not commit himself to regular midweek home meetings and needed a weekend track. We are still looking to improve the team and will do so if it is at all possible.
