Last year saw the second edition of the Autumn Motorsport Festival at Brooklands Museum, with its associated classic car displaysand such was the popularity of the event that its being held again in 2013. Taking place on Sunday 13th October, its a wonderful chance to round off the season with the sight of competition cars from all eras in action on the Mercedes-Benz World test track, adjacent to Brooklands Museum. Selected cars will also run up the demanding Brooklands Test Hill.
Among the many race cars present will be F5000, FIA GTs and Touring Cars, as well as Group B rally machineryplus two Benetton Formula 1 cars: a B193 Benetton raced by Michael Schumacher and Riccardo Patrese in 1993 and, from three years earlier, a B190 that Nelson Piquet drove to victory at Suzuka and Adelaide in the 1990 F1 World Championship.
What sets this Brooklands event apart is how close spectators can get to the action; plus, if you arrive in your own Italian road car (any model and year), you can be part of the event by joining the Italian car display. All the usual attractions at Brooklands Museum will be open on the day, including the Concorde Experience (small extra charge applies) and the London Bus Museum. Parking for display and Italian cars is on the Museum site, reached via the Campbell Entrance off Brooklands Road, with additional public parking in The Heights off Wellington Way.
