THE Great Britain v Australia series moves on to Newcastle on Sunday evening (6.30pm) following the postponement of the scheduled Fourth Test at Workington.Comets bosses have moved quickly to re-schedule the Derwent Park fixture for September 14 after being forced to pull the plug on Saturday around three hours before start-time due to the weather.Workington co-promoter Tony Jackson said: The track stood up to the morning rain superbly and once it stopped in mid-afternoon it began to dry out well and the meeting was most definitely going ahead. But, a short and very intense shower shortly after 4pm proved to be too much to cope with and reluctantly we had no option but to call the meeting off. However, we would like to thank both (managers) Phil Morris and Mark Lemon for their co-operation in being able to arrange a re-staging date for the fixture so quickly.

SOMERSET hit back from their disappointment at missing out at Edinburgh on Friday with a 52-38 win at Berwick to return to the top of the Premier League table.Jason Doyle scored a 15-point maximum for the Rebels with Josh Grajczonek and Nick Morris dropping just one point apiece, whilst the Bandits werent helped by a Heat 11 crash which saw Kozza Smith and Nicki Barrett ruled out for the rest of the evening.Somerset boss Garry May said: We wish both of them well, but when you look at the way we were dominating things at that stage, our top three being supreme, I think we still would have run out winners and gained all four league points come what may.I know all the boys were really disappointed about not coming away from Edinburgh with a point to show for our troubles, and they really wanted to make up for it to get us back into top spot in the Premier League table - and for the fans who have made the long trip up from Somerset to support us on our Northern Tour.(SPEEDWAY 4)

IPSWICH moved into the top three of the Premier League with a 45-45 draw at Rye House in a meeting run at pace due to persistent heavy drizzle. The Witches fought back from an early eight-point deficit to secure two league points with Rohan Tungate winning the last-heat decider whilst home duo Tyson Nelson and Olly Allen packed in ahead of Ben Barker for the draw.Ipswich boss Pete Simmons said: I've got to be happy with two points in the end although but for major mechanical issues with Ritchie's (Hawkins) bikes and already using rider replacement to cover for Cam (Heeps) we could have had more.Rockets manager John Sampford added: A draw was the fair result. Because of the wet weather, the track had to be prepared slick in order to get through the meeting, but that also made gating paramount.

BUXTON travel to Sundays National League Fours at Stoke (3.30pm) in confident mood following a positive run of recent form. The Hitmen will be represented at Loomer Road by Charles Wright, Adam McKinna, Liam Carr and Ryan Blacklock, and manager Jack Lee has high hopes for the day.He said: Im looking at the meeting with a great deal of confidence really because the four riders we've got all go pretty well round Stoke and the group were in - Stoke, Kent and Dudley - we've had good results against so far this season. We should be able to do what we did last year and get into the final, and hopefully this year well win it. Last year we finished second with a refereeing decision going against us, so hopefully well go one better and win it. We've got four good riders down there so well all be trying our very best.(FIXTURES)
