DUDLEY made it a double in National League major events by winning the Fours at Stoke in a meting which went right down to the wire.Going into the last race the Heathens, Kent and Mildenhall were all level on 11-points, but Dudleys Lewis Blackbird got the better of the previously unbeaten Steve Boxall, leaving the Kings second ahead of the Fen Tigers and Kings Lynn.Blackbirds Dudley team-mate Paul Starke was unbeaten throughout the day whilst Kings Lynns Lewis Kerr, like Boxall, only dropped one point.Dudley boss Will Pottinger said: Were absolutely over the moon to win the Fours, especially in such dramatic circumstances. It was a great team effort from all the riders and mechanics to give us another trophy along with the Pairs and the National Shield earlier in the season.

GREAT Britain clinched the Test Series with a powerful performance at Newcastle to demolish Australia 67-23.Skipper Richie Worrall, racing on his home circuit, scored a paid maximum from five rides, a feat equalled by Craig Cook whilst Josh Auty reeled off four wins out of four. The result puts GB into a 3-1 series lead with the re-arranged Workington meeting to come next month.Newcastle promoter George English said: This was a dominant performance from Team GB and they wanted to make sure of a series victory - and as our Richie was the skipper he wasn't going to let the chance slip of steering his country to victory, which he did admirably.

LAKESIDE have been boosted by the news that Sebastian Ulamek is targeting a return from injury in time to play a part in their Elite League run-in.The play-off chasing Hammers, who visit Peterborough on Monday, have a busy away schedule in early September before the cut-off and had hoped to sign Peter Ljung to replace the Pole, a move which fell through as he was unable to re-schedule off-track commitments.Ulamek will miss the Hammers final home fixture against Poole on Friday but could return for the return match at Wimborne Road on September 2.Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook said: Obviously Peters news was a blow but Seb is working hard to be back and our move in date of the fixture against Swindon means that he could be back for half our remaining meetings.

PETEBROROUGH co-boss Trevor Swales says his side must keep their current momentum going when fourth-placed Lakeside visit the Showground on a busy Monday night of Elite League action. The Panthers grabbed a stunning win at Poole last week and have put themselves in with a chance of staging a dramatic run to the play-offs if they can maintain their form.Swales said: The target is undoubtedly the play-offs now. It may be in the distance at the moment but if we can get one more away win and then not slip up at home, it could happen. Its vital that we get maximum points on Monday. The battle for fourth place also includes Kings Lynn, who have Rory Schlein back in their team for the trip to Eastbourne, whilst Birmingham will take over at the top if they can take at least a point from their visit to Belle Vue.

SOMERSET made it two wins out of three on their Northern tour with a 46-44 victory at Glasgow, snatching the verdict with a dramatic last-gasp 5-1.The Premier League leaders went into the penultimate race four points adrift but a 4-2 in Heat 14 kept their hopes alive, with skipper Jason Doyle and Nick Morris then completing the turnaround by getting the better of Joe Screen and Henning Bager in the decider.Somerset boss Garry May said: Many people were saying that this match should be a walk in the park for us, but we knew that Glasgow would make us fight for every point as they desperately wanted to end their losing streak and who better to do it against than the Premier League leaders. You often hear the football experts say that League Championships are won when matches arent quite going a teams way but they dig deep and sneak a victory with that 90th minute winner. That was us today, we needed a big 5-1 in that final heat to take three points away with us from the match, and Doyley and Nick certainly came up trumps for us when it really mattered.
