Villorba Corse to enter 2015 GT Sports Club with Mezard‏

Scuderia Villorba Corse has unveiled their first “Racing with Ferrari” programme for the 2015 season.

The Italian team will take part in the GT Sports Club series with a Ferrari 458 GT3. In the four rounds of this brand new international championship, created by SRO Motorsports Group and reserved for GT3 cars and bronze-rated gentlemen drivers, the squad led by Raimondo Amadio will line up Cedric Mezard, French driver who raced with Villorba Corse in past events including the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi.

As announced on that occasion, in 2015 Italian team officially inaugurates an internal division for sports clients. This “Racing with Ferrari” activity extension will therefore be inaugurated by the GT Sports Club series and will join Villorba Corse GT professional programmes, where, last season, the team celebrated the Blancpain Endurance Series Pro-Am title. Villorba is working to bring a second car in the championship alongside Mezard's 458.

Team Principal Raimondo Amadio said: “Cedric Mezard is a friend of our team. We are glad to have him full-time in a championship for the first time. The genius of Stephane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, was proven again by this new GT series. A well organized schedule with wonderful tracks and a fair competition among bronze drivers are the proper components for a successful season. Our intention is to have a second car in the championship to start our new division in the best possible way”.

Mezard added: “After several races and good results with Villorba over two years in ELMS and Blancpain, I am very happy to race in this new series with Raimondo and his team. It is new for me to race alone but with the help of the team we will try to keep on going in a good way. The tracks and the timetable of the events are perfect but some other races with the GT3 and Villorba are possible. We will plan all that in the next weeks”.

GT Sports Club calendar: Apr. 18-19 Barcelona (SPA - Espiritu de Montjuïc); June 20-21 Le Castellet (FRA - Blancpain Endurance Series); Sept. 5-6 Portimao (POR - Blancpain Sprint Series); Oct. 3-4 Misano (ITA - Blancpain Sprint Series).
