World Champions Edwards And Spencer To Visit Northallerton‏

Two of the greatest motorcycle racers of recent times will be visiting the quaint North Yorkshire town of Northallerton when they take part in a pair of fund-raising chat shows organised by the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club.

First up is the amiable American Colin Edwards who is no stranger to Northallerton having visited many times over recent years where he has regaled the many hundreds of fans each time with his tales of rivalry with the sporting greats. The double World Superbike Champion and former MotoGP racer, nicknamed 'The Texas Tornado' will be visiting The Golden Lion Hotel Yorkshire Suite on Wednesday 26th August starting at 7.15pm.

Then just two weeks later on Wednesday 9th September sees a real coup for the NYRRSC whereby they have managed to persuade the legendary 'Fast' Freddie Spencer to come along to The Golden Lion that evening.

Recognised as one of the most naturally-talented riders ever, Spencer was a double 500cc World Champion in 1983 and 1985, whereby he also won the 250cc World Championship in 1985 to become the last rider to win both titles in one season.

The American is a rare visitor to the UK and rarely does such chat shows so a capacity crowd is expected to attend the show from 7.30pm which will be hosted by MCE British Superbike Championship pit lane reporter Larry 'Scoop' Carter. At both evenings there will be the usual bar, raffle and auction with all proceeds going towards helping local racers. Tickets cost £9.00 for the Edwards night and £12.00 for the Spencer night (discounts for members) and for further information please visit www.nyrrsc.net
