Motors TV Weekend Highlights 21,22 May‏

The Month of May is traditionally a busy one on the motorsport calendar and this weekend is no exception, with a raft of bumper to bumper, wheel-to-wheel exploits for you to enjoy on the High Speed Television channel. So without further ado, let’s dive straight in.

Max Verstappen’s fairytale victory in last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix came after only 24 races in the top flight, having graduated directly from the FIA Formula 3 championship last season. Spurred on by the Dutchman’s success, this season’s talented crop of young talent will be redoubling their efforts at the big boys go-kart track that is the Red Bull Ring in Austria, which will be live for your entertainment on Motors TV. Seven different drivers have already taken the top step in the first three meetings, so predicting a winner will be harder than choosing between a Rich Tea and Bourbon!

There’s plenty more live motorsport coming from Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, which plays host to Round Two of the International GT Open and EuroFormula Open single-seater championship. With resplendent machinery from McLaren, Lamborghini and Audi taking on the latest offerings from Ferrari and BMW, there will be plenty to keep you guessing in GT Open, while in the F3-style series, some of the world’s finest young talent will be continuing their training as they look to prove themselves worthy of a professional career in motorsport.

The sight of GT cars going hell for leather at night is always a spectacle to behold and all the more so when the venue in question is the historic Pau street circuit in the South of France, with its famously magnetic barriers ready to punish even the slightest of mistakes. With that in mind, you won’t want to miss highlights of the GT4 European Series, as 42 drivers from around the world walk the high-speed tightrope.

From the very latest in technical innovation and motorsport engineering, the Historic Sportscar Club’s 50th Anniversary celebration meeting will provide a throwback to a bygone era, when the Beatles were the talk of the nation and England had the greatest football team in the world. A lot has changed since 1966, but fantastically close racing from FF1600, Formula Junior, saloons and more thankfully hasn’t!

It’s not often that you find a motorsport championship where entertainment is the name of the game, but with reverse grid ballots, nickname requirements for every driver and stonking V8 engines, what’s not to love about the V8 Utes Racing Series? Watch out for some interesting start procedures as these Aussie beasts rumble down to turn one!

If that’s not enough, we’ll also have all the best bits from the TCR International Series and inaugural GT3 Le Mans Cup rounds from Imola, plus action from the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Audi TT Cup at Hockenheim.
