Porsche secures clean sweep in China GT @ Thailand Super Series opener

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customer team Winhere Origine Motorsport clinched both GT3 victories in the second round of China GT this weekend at Ningbo International Circuit, as well as 610 Racing earning success in the two GTC/GTS events. Meanwhile in Thailand, Porsche entries enjoyed podiums across all categories in the 2026 Thailand Super Series opener in Buriram.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customer team 610 Racing kicked off the second round of the 2026 China GT campaign by securing an excellent 1-2-3 in the GTC/GTS race.

He Xiaole and Yuan Runqi claimed overall success being closely followed home by Hana Burton and Shi Wei, who also ensured the GTC Pro-Am win. Yan Chuang completed the podium as well as securing the GTC Am victory in the #27 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, ahead of Wang Yang and Gan Erfu who took second in class.

SDR Racing’s Liu Sen narrowly missed out on a GTS Am category podium in the #111 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, having to settle for fourth in class, while Lenny Tian Weiyuan and Ethan Gialdini clinched Pro-Am honours for Origin7 Racing.

Later on Saturday, seven Porsche 911 GT3 R started the first GT3 event of the weekend as Yuan Bo and Leo Ye earned a dominant victory. Ye qualified on pole and took the wheel of the #96 Winhere Origine Motorsport entry for the start, maintaining his position before handing over to Yuan. He continued to deliver consistent strong lap times wrapping up a second win of the season for the team.

610 Racing’s Luo Kailuo and Yang Haojie as well as Gu Meng and Xie Xinzhe for Origine Motorsport would finish fourth and fifth in the Pro-Am class respectively. Meanwhile in the Am category, Cao Qikuan and Hu Bo piloted the #16 610 Racing machine to the podium, with Absolute Racing’s Liu Hangcheng and Min Heng recording a top five finish.

Chris Chia and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Enzo Trulli initially crossed the line sixth for Phantom Global Racing, but a post-race time penalty would move them down to ninth in Pro-Am.

Sunday started with an action-packed GTC/GTS race as the same 610 Racing entries secured another 1-2-3 for the team, this time in a different order.

The top three were separated by just 1.595 seconds at the finish, with the positions constantly switching throughout the hour-long event. It was Chuang who took overall victory as Burton and Shi had to settle for second, also securing the Pro-Am win, while yesterday’s victors He and Yuan completed the podium.

Weiyuan and Gialdini wrapped up second in GTS Pro-Am to round off a strong weekend for the duo after their success on Saturday. The GTS Am-class saw Liu having to settle for fourth, as Ultimate Racing’s Zhang Banggui and Zhang Wenyan came home sixth.

It was a difficult event for Che Shaoyi and Archer Wu in the #650 Origine Motorsport entry who showed promising speed but were unable to finish both races.

The finale saw the GT3 entries back in action, with Yuan and Ye taking yet another commanding victory to ensure the perfect weekend for Winhere Origine Motorsport. The duo controlled the race from pole position as both put in impressive stints again, taking the win by over 11 seconds.

Chia and Trulli enjoyed a successful outing in an exciting event as they made their way onto the overall podium for Phantom Global Racing, following on from the success the pair had during the first round in Shanghai.

The second entry for the Chinese outfit saw Li Ning and Loek Hartog gain an impressive 12 places to clinch ninth in the Pro-Am class just behind Luo and Yang who would come eighth.

The Am category saw plenty of action once again as Liu and Min claimed second, while Cao and Hu narrowly missed out on the podium places, finishing fourth.

China GT returns for Round 3 of the 2026 campaign on 24-26 July as the championship heads to Zhuhai International Circuit.

Yuan Bo, Winhere Origine Motorsport: “It was a very smooth weekend as we got pole position and wins across both races! The event was incredibly enjoyable and I hope the next round can go just as well.”

Leo Ye, Winhere Origine Motorsport: “Yuan Bo is very strong - he handed the car over to me in great positions every time, so I just needed to maintain our pace. We had good luck this weekend and came away with two victories, which is an amazing achievement.”

Chris Chia, Phantom Global Racing: “Due to a collision in the first race, the car was damaged and lost pace, so we didn't achieve the result we wanted. Thanks to the team for fixing the car overnight, and also to my teammate for moving up the field multiple times in the second race. Ningbo is a tough circuit, but we more or less met our expectations for the weekend. I hope we can get an even better result in the next round at Zhuhai."

Enzo Trulli, Phantom Global Racing: “Overall, it wasn’t an easy weekend, unfortunately I got hit three times in Race 1 causing damage to the rear diffuser. Chris still did a solid job and managed to bring back the car in sixth, before unfortunately a penalty put us out of the points. Race 2 was much better after a great first stint from Chris to give me the car in P6, and then I managed to make my way up to P3 overall, so we scored good points in the championship!”

Loek Hartog, Phantom Global Racing: “I’m very happy with how my first weekend in China went and it was an enjoyable experience. We’ve been fast throughout the event and we’re learning with each lap that we do. I’m proud of our progress and we gained several positions during Sunday’s race to narrowly miss out on the overall top 10. I’m very excited to be continuing with the team for the remainder of the 2026 season.”

Luo Kailuo, 610 Racing: "After a solid start to the weekend in the practice sessions, we lacked speed in qualifying. Fortunately, the team quickly sorted out these issues, and we had strong pace in both races. We finished fourth overall in the first race, which is our best result of the season. In the second event, we started from the back and fought our way up to ninth overall to close out the weekend. Hopefully we can have an even stronger performance in Zhuhai."

Min Heng, Absolute Racing: "I was delighted to be driving Porsche machinery again! I hadn’t been to Ningbo in five years, so I needed a bit of time to readjust at the beginning. It's my first weekend back, and based on the results we've got, we're optimistic that there's plenty of room for improvement heading into the future rounds.”

Yan Chuang, 610 Racing: “I'm delighted to have taken the overall GTC/GTS win during the second race. I had to battle hard in the closing stages to maintain my advantage and by the time I crossed the finish line, I felt exhausted but so pleased to clinch victory. In the extreme heat yesterday, the Porsche showed no signs of brake overheating or fading at all - the car's performance was excellent.”

Yuan Runqi, 610 Racing: “This was my first time driving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and it was brilliant. I tested the car last week and gained a much better understanding of it. The racing was fun, and I hope to get more opportunities to compete in this car in the future."

He Xiaole, 610 Racing: “It was an almost perfect weekend as we secured GTC/GTS victory on Saturday and came third during Sunday’s race. We showed strong pace throughout the event and we’ll look to carry this forward into the next round at Zhuhai.”

Shi Wei, 610 Racing: “This was my first time driving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup which was a challenge as the style required is very different to what I’ve driven in the past. As I got more familiar with the car, my lap times steadily improved. It's been a truly enjoyable experience, and I've learned a lot."

Hana Burton, 610 Racing: “It was my first time at Ningbo International Circuit and it was a real challenge. We had some wet running so this made it tricky to get a proper feel for the track. However, we enjoyed some great battles across the two races and managed to stand on the podium on both days which is a positive. It was an enjoyable weekend and a huge thanks to my teammate Shi Wei for her support throughout.”

Lenny Tian Weiyuan, Origin7 Racing: “At the beginning of the weekend we chose a set-up which didn’t work for us. Fortunately, our Pro driver has a lot of experience, so we still managed to get decent results in the races. I'm really looking forward to returning to our home track in Zhuhai, and I hope we can achieve a solid performance there as well.”

Ethan Gialdini, Origin7 Racing: “It was a great event as everything was new to me, so I learned a lot. It was a pleasure to work with the squad and my teammate as we improved throughout the weekend. Overall, I’m happy with the performance we managed to achieve.”

Thailand Super Series

The GT4/GTC race got the weekend’s action underway with AAS Motorsport’s Kmik Karnasuta and Thanapattra Sutthisawang securing fourth in the GT4 Pro category. They were followed home by teammates Kantadhee Kusiri and Dechathorn Phuakkarawut, who recovered from earlier contact to cross the line fifth in class.

Next up was the GT3/GTM opener with Henk Kiks and Alessandro Ghiretti lining up sixth on the grid for B-Quik Absolute Racing. Kiks showed strong pace, gaining three positions during his stint, meaning he handed the #26 Porsche 911 GT3 R over to Ghiretti in third.

The Frenchman showed impressive pace to set up a late overtake, snatching second in the final minutes of the race. Elsewhere, Simon Chan and Li Jia wrapped up an overall GTM podium as well as the Am-class victory in the #10 Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche GT3 Cup (992.2).

Sunday’s action began with the second GT3/GTM race of the event with Ghiretti starting from fifth. The current Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion made great early progress making his way up into second, before an incident meant he had to serve a drive-through penalty.

However, the pair bounced back strongly with Kiks also producing solid lap-times to secure second overall and the GT3 Pro win. In the GTM category, Chan and Jia improved on Saturday’s performance as the duo managed to come second overall as well as once again earning Am-class honours.

The GT4/GTC race acted as the final race of the weekend as both AAS Motorsport entries started in the top five.

Kusiri and Phuakkarawut stayed out of trouble in an action-packed event, making their way into the lead, with the latter holding off late pressure to secure an excellent victory for the squad. The #9 car also showed strong pace throughout as Karnasuta and Sutthisawang moved up from fifth into third, ensuring a double podium for the outfit.

Thailand Super Series heads to the popular Bangsaen Street Circuit on 1-5 July to take on the second round of the 2026 campaign.

Henk Kiks, B-Quik Absolute Racing: “I love the updated Porsche 911 GT3 R and it gives me a lot of confidence. It was great to kick off the 2026 campaign with two trips to the podium and Alessandro did a good job. I’m looking forward to the next event in Bangsaen as it’s a massive weekend for Porsche with Porsche Carrera Cup Asia also there in support. It’s a circuit that I have a lot of experience on so I can’t wait.”

Simon Chan, Fire Monkey Motorsport: “We improved as the weekend went on and during the second race I think we found a great rhythm. Racing in both Thailand Super Series and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia this year gives me more valuable track time, which will hopefully further enhance our results.”

Li Jia, Fire Monkey Motorsport: “It’s an incredibly exciting moment for me to return to the track alongside Simon, competing in the thrilling Thailand Super Series. The electric Thai racing atmosphere made this race truly unforgettable. Special thanks to Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific and EKS for your tremendous support.”

Kantadhee Kusiri, AAS Motorsport: “This weekend brought both disappointment and success. We had problems with the car in the opener due to an incident, but during the second race we were able to come back and take the overall GT4 win. A huge thanks to the team, my teammate, and the #9 AAS Motorsport car — we worked together perfectly throughout the weekend. Of course, we will continue to give it our all in the next race.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “It was a great weekend for us in both Ningbo and Buriram as we earned multiple victories and podiums. In China GT, we took both GT3 wins with Winhere Origine Motorsport as well as seeing our Selected Driver Enzo secure a podium in Race 2. 610 Racing also earned success in the GTC/GTS events, but we must improve moving forward in GTS to be ready for the next round in Zhuhai. It was another excellent event organised by TOP SPEED, as they have carried the momentum forward from Shanghai.

“In Thailand Super Series, it was a strong start to the season with B-Quik Absolute Racing scoring podiums in the GT3 category as well as AAS Motorsport wrapping up victory and a further podium during the second GT4 race. It’s been a successful weekend for Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific across the two championships and we’re aiming to keep this up heading into the future rounds.”
