BERWICK held off Leicester to win the Premier League Fours in a tense battle at Peterborough on Sunday.Sebastian Alden scored a maximum in the Final for the Bandits with Ricky Ashworth dropping just one point, and Alden won the last-race decider to leave his side three points clear of the Lions, with Workington third and Plymouth fourth.It was the first time the Bandits had taken the silverware since 2002, with Lee Complin and David Bellego completing their victorious quartet.Berwick boss Ian Rae said: These lads wanted success for our fans especially after two awful league performances and they worked like Trojans to a man to give our club a National trophy to shout long, loud and proud about. PATRICK Hougaard is set to make his comeback from injury for Belle Vue this week.The Dane has been on the sidelines due to a broken collarbone on two separate occasions this season, but is fit to return after hectic practice sessions over the weekend.He said: It all went well for me. I was comfortable on the bike and had no problems with my collarbone.Hougaard, who has ridden just seven official fixtures for the Aces this season, is due to return in Mondays home clash with Peterborough followed by the trip to Poole on Wednesday.

KINGS Lynn have made a change in their doubling-up position by adding Danish rider Ulrich Ostergaard to their squad.Ostergaard replaces Joe Screen and will share his place with the currently-injured David Howe, so will make his debut for the Norfolk Arena club at home to Eastbourne on Wednesday.Promoter Keith Chapman said: We would like to thank Joe for all his help but with eight home matches left we felt that this move makes us stronger at reserve. Ulrich has a good record around Kings Lynn and enjoys riding here very much.

MILDENHALL returned to the top of the National League with a convincing 63-30 win over the Isle of Wight in their first home meeting for seven weeks.Cameron Heeps scored a four-ride maximum and there were also double-figure scores for Stefan Nielsen and Lewis Blackbird in a powerful all-round display.Co-promoter Michael Lee said: The boys looked a little ring-rusty at the start, which was only to be expected, but once they got over the tricky track conditions, they showed us what they can do.The Islanders, meanwhile, were hit by a broken collarbone for Gary Cottham with fellow reserve Danny Stoneman having announced his retirement from the sport earlier in the weekend.

BUXTON boss Jack Lee received the perfect 71st birthday present as the Hitmen ran up a 60-33 National League win over Rye House.Recent signing Charles Wright scored a paid maximum, his 14+1 total matched by Robert Branford, and Lee feels his side can now make progress up the table.He said: Charles is back and hes been the one rider weve been missing all year. Weve been saying we feel like we are a rider short in the top five all season and now weve got him, and its great to see the lads enjoying themselves again.If we can hang on to Charles for the rest of the season without him being picked up by a higher league, and keep winning like this, I cant see any reason why we wont shoot back up the league.
